Reintroducing our golden boy of SMCA with an all time high rating of 1643!
Seven summers ago, he was a seven-year-old prodigy in Maharashtra chess. Ruhaan Mahindru created ripples in state chess by annexing the Prestigious Maharashtra U-9 state crown. For the next three years he was in thick of things being the youngest rated players in the state.
Now, the 14year-old seems to be a refurbished version of what he was back in 2012.
Cut to 2019, Ruhaan made his first appearance after quite some time in back-to-back open international chess meets in France. He set a new record by gaining 250 ELO ratings from the tournaments and is back in the race. Close ones say he has come of age and the refurbished Ruhaan is unparalleled in calculation skills coupled with rock-like patience.
Ruhaan’s Coach Pawan Bandi too have showered accolades on the teenager, particularly for his all-round improvement in performance and bouncing back. “Ruhaan’s improved patience, focus and determination gave him the winning run in the Paris tournament. Ruhaan is a complete player now capable of handling both tactical and position play,” Pawan said.
Ruhaan’s main coach Vakil akhtar also believes that Ruhaan’s tactical acumen is good which helps him outwit opponents at the slightest of opportunity.
However, this is just the beginning, keep watching this space for more from Ruhaan Mahindru.
